Israel is facing an escalating wildfire crisis — WildfireAID rises to the challenge

Record-breaking heat, prolonged drought, and war-related fire risks are endangering lives, homes, and landscapes. Entire communities—whether near the Gaza Envelope, the Northern border, or the Jerusalem Hills—are on the frontline, often far from professional help.

WildfireAID was founded in order to safeguard communities, lives and livelihoods from the danger of fires in wildfire-prone areas of the country.

Our Wildfire Resilience Programs

We deliver hands-on workshops tailored to each community’s unique risks, donate essential firefighting and protective gear, and provide expert risk assessments with localized response plans. By collaborating with leading wildfire specialists from Israel and abroad, we ensure that vulnerable communities are better prepared, better equipped, and more resilient.

Building Preparedness, Together
Through interactive workshops and on-the-ground support, we help residents understand what steps they can take before a fire strikes. From home-hardening techniques to neighborhood awareness campaigns, our education efforts equip communities with the knowledge and confidence to protect lives, homes, and livelihoods.

From Awareness to Action
We work hand-in-hand with communities to assess wildfire risks and translate those insights into practical, life-saving actions. Our actionable risk assessments shape real-world strategies to reduce vulnerability, strengthen readiness, and empower local leadership in the face of escalating fire threats.

Protecting Those Who Protect Us
We train local emergency responders and civil squads in wildfire behavior, suppression tactics, and personal safety—ensuring they are prepared not just to respond, but to survive and lead during high-risk events. Our programs emphasize practical, field-tested techniques grounded in real-world fire scenarios.

Equipping the Front Lines
Too often, brave volunteers face wildfires with inadequate gear. We close that gap by donating critical firefighting tools and personal protective equipment (PPE)—from helmets and gloves to backpack sprayers and fire-resistant clothing—so that those on the front lines can operate safely and effectively.

Driving Solutions Through R&D
Wildfire resilience demands innovation. We actively support research, pilot programs, and academic partnerships that generate data-driven solutions for fire prevention, detection, and response. Our work helps to bring innovation and technology to the community level.

Collaborating for Systemic Change
We collaborate with local councils, regional authorities, and national agencies to ensure that community voices and grassroots needs are embedded in long-term wildfire policy and planning. Together, we’re forging a smarter, more connected approach to regional-scale resilience.

Why It Matters

Civil society must fill the gap – just as it does in Australia, Canada, Europe and the U.S.

At-risk first responders

Community responders risk their lives to protect families and homes.

Conflict zones

Fires are worsened by war, agro-terrorism, and missile attacks.

Climate crisis

Extreme heat waves and dry winters create explosive fire conditions.

Underprepared communities

Many lack the training and tools needed.

Our Programs In The News

”By addressing the entire fire lifecycle – from prevention and preparation to response and recovery – we are helping to build a more fire-resilient Israel, where citizens are empowered to protect themselves, their neighbors, their livelihoods, and their landscapes from the growing threat of wildfires.”

Join Us.
Build a Safer Future.

We don’t all have the skill or knowledge to fight fires or to prevent them. But in the face of crisis we see individuals coming together, helping to empower communities and each other with knowledge, skills and equipment.

With your support we continue to:

Conduct on-site wildfire risk assessments and lead community preparedness workshops

Train local emergency responders and provide them with essential personal protective equipment (PPE)

Support applied wildfire research & development, while building partnerships with academic, regional, and national stakeholders

Real Impact – Training That Hit Home in Real Time

Moshav Goren

"The team thoroughly enjoyed and were impressed by the level of professionalism. I hope that you can continue to support more of our region’s communities"
- Babi, Regional Chief of Security
In March, we held a full-day, 9-hour community emergency responder training in Goren, including participation from the Regional Security Chief. The session combined our Hebrew workshop with classroom learning, simulations, donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and live hands-on fire suppression exercises. Just one hour into the program, theory turned into reality when a fire broke out at the local aluminum factory. Tragically, a worker without protective gear suffered second- and third-degree burns, a moment the trainees witnessed in real time as the fire department responded. This incident powerfully underscored the critical importance of preparedness, proper PPE, and the very risks we had been discussing minutes earlier. The Regional Security Chief praised the training’s professionalism and impact, noting how engaged and motivated the team felt to bring this new knowledge back to their community. For Goren, the training was not just an exercise—it was a wake-up call that translated immediately into awareness, urgency, and readiness. With their new equipment and skills, the community is now better positioned to protect both responders and residents in the face of future fire threats.
Real Impact – From Vulnerability to Preparedness

Kibbutz Magen

"We gained vital tools for personal and situational safety, familiarized ourselves with our equipment, and built confidence in our ability to use it."
- Gilad, Chairman of the Kibbutz
Like many communities in Israel, Kibbutz Magen historically relied on its security team to double as fire responders, leaving critical gaps in readiness. With our support, Magen has now established its first dedicated volunteer firefighting unit, separating fire response from security duties for the first time. Over the past year, expired fire extinguishers, hoses, and reels were replaced across public, agricultural, and residential areas, and even the kibbutz’s old fire truck was restored to working condition. In May, we delivered our comprehensive wildfire prevention and suppression training that equipped community emergency responders with the skills, confidence, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to respond safely and effectively. The training has already expanded the number of capable responders, ensuring faster and safer containment of fires until official firefighters arrive. In a heartfelt letter of appreciation, Magen’s leadership affirmed that this program has not only strengthened their emergency preparedness but also restored their community’s sense of security following the trauma of October 7th.
Real Impact – Training That Saves Time, Gear That Saves Lives

Kibbutz Gvar’Am

"The firefighters praised our response & efficiency."
- Assaf, Head of Community Emergency Response:
Within just two weeks of completing our wildfire training and equipment donation program, Kibbutz Gvar’am’s emergency response team successfully responded to two separate wildfire incidents. They mobilized within minutes to assist at a neighboring blaze in Netiv Ha’Asarah—safely suiting up in our donated fire-rated personal protective equipment (PPE), before containing the spread ahead of the fire department’s arrival. Their calculated and risk-aware response reflected the exact safety protocols taught in our course. Days later, another wildfire ignited at Gvar’Am’s own entrance just two hours after our live-fire drill concluded. The team deployed the very same tools, tactics, and donated equipment from our program—resulting in zero injuries, no structural damage, and swift containment. Post-incident, the Head of Security shared a message of gratitude and images of the team maintaining their gear—evidence of both behavioral change and the long-term value of proper PPE use and maintenance. These back-to-back responses demonstrate the measurable impact of our program: trained communities, safer outcomes, and real-world wildfire resilience.
